what type of lenses would be best for my Sony Alpha 100 DSLR?
I have one that is 28-105mm but want one that goes up to to 300mm or more. which brands would be best for my camera?
Sony lenses will work just fine, of course, but they are expensive. Since Sony took over basically Konica / Minolta, if they end as cameras Minolta (Dynax) lenses will work. If you look around, you may find a Minolta lens, the new in Box, but you're more likely to find it second hand, maybe a cheap price. So much for OEM lenses. In the after-market, makes Carl Zeiss lenses for your Alpha, not But in the focal length you want. They can in the future. Zeiss lenses are top quality and go for top dollar. The other after-market lens manufacturers would I check are Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, and in no particular order. Each manufacturer has its advocates and critics, but they are usually cheaper than any of the above and the Quality can be as good if not better.
