Should I have a Nikon D40 or Nikon D70 camera?
I am a photographer, wanted to upgrade cameras. I have never owned a Nikon, but I know the pros, Love it. Originally I wanted a D40, because a friend swears by it, but I was very much on a d70 with a lot of delivery: Nikon D70 body Nikon AF-S Nikkor DX lens (18-70mm F3.5-4.5G ED) SB-600 i-TTL flash + soft case Nikon camera strap batteries and charger 3 x 2 x 1 GB flash cards (one 1GB SanDisk Ultra II and Lexar Professional 80X Ultra High Speed card) LCD 77mm ring converter (cover allows use of 77mm filters) 77mm UV Protector Filter Tiffen For the price, it sounds like a good thing but since I do not know anything about Nikon, I do not know if it is treated as good as it sounds. Which would you go? A D40 with nothing or with d70 everything? Is a better than d40 d70? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
D40 and D70 image quality is about the same. D70 is two generations old, is replaced by D80, D90, replaced by, but do not bother you. D70 image quality is still good. D70 can auto focus on more lenses (including 50mm F1.8, a good, cheap, fast, sharp lens). D40 needs AF-I or AF-S lenses will auto focus, not on AF or AF-D lenses autofocus. D70 would be better than nothing D40 with nothing. D70 with everything? Grab it.
